Case Study

The Belfast

Business Idea Award

Engage: The Client

Belfast City Council

Enrich: The Brief

Create and execute a competition that would further promote a culture of enterprise in the city, simulate new early-stage entrepreneurial activity and act as a feeder for business start-up support.

Elevate: The Outcome

We designed a competition mechanic that unearthed, recognised and helped to fast track the best business ideas in Belfast. This included the securing of 4 high-level sponsors who helped to create a prize pool that would make a real difference to early stage businesses and those thinking of taking the next step with their idea. To encourage participation we ensured that all applicants would benefit, as such all competing entrepreneurs (and wantrepreneurs) were invited to Finalists’ Night at which they heard from Lara Morgan, one of the UK’s most successful entrepreneurs, and also had the chance to network with like-minded entrepreneurs and experts who could help progress their idea. Feedback from participants was outstanding with many commenting that the experience helped them to refocus and redouble their entrepreneurial efforts. From a client perspective the project comfortably exceeded Belfast City Council’s targets for participation and referral.

This is the best entrepreneurial event that I have ever attended.
